Women shy away from the camera. We’ve been told by media that we aren’t young enough, thin enough, successful enough - not enough of anything - to be photographed. As a result, every time we walk by a mirror, we see our perceived flaws and say unkind words to ourselves. “My nose is too big,” “my behind is as big as a whale,” “I’m not good enough to go to that event,” and more that we would never say to anyone else. We hide BEHIND the camera because we've lost our confidence and see no beauty in ourselves.

How we speak to ourselves is how we speak to those around us. To be a heart-centered leader, one who approaches both opportunities and challenges with love and kindness, that love and kindness must first be felt from within. Anyone can take on a leadership position, but leaders who have the most positive effect on those around them lead from a place of love and acceptance. Leading others as an authentic human being requires self-love and self-acceptance. If we hate our bodies and berate ourselves every time we talk by a mirror, that energy will show up in the way we lead. When we dislike ourselves, it is difficult to lift others up. It is difficult to provide positive feedback, celebrate successes, and have patience. We are more critical of others…because we are so critical of ourselves. We cannot be an effective leader for others if we are not a loving and kind leader for ourselves first.

Like so many women, Karianne too has felt the weight of societal expectations of beauty. She never felt like she was good enough for anything. She didn’t see her beauty or love herself, and it showed in the way she lived her life and treated others.

Through a life-changing portrait photography experience, Karianne found a way to stop the negative thoughts and start to love herself for the first time. When she saw the real Kari in her photos - not her outer self, but her true inner self – that’s when the change took place. She is now able to walk by a mirror, and instead of berating herself for the size of her thighs, she looks upon her body with love and kindness. Karianne sees her beauty, stands proudly and confidently in front of a mirror/camera, and inspires others to do the same.

About Karianne:
Karianne is an artist and nurturer, fiercely motivated by using her talents to make women feel confident, empowered, and whole. Growing up with an abusive role model left her filled with fear. She countered this by attempting to be perfect, but never took the time to understand who she was. She continued down a path of perfection that led her to a marriage, a job, and other endeavors that weren’t right for her.

Karianne started a journey to get to know herself in her 30s. On her spiritual journey, she connected back to the thing that brought her joy as a child… photography. She discovered an innate talent to capture a person’s true inner beauty. In 2018, she left her full-time corporate job to focus on what brings her joy… her portrait business.
Personally, Karianne is a wife, doggy momma, stepmother, and new mommy to 10-month-old son.

Lead with Impact and Insight whether addressing family or your board of directors. This is Must-Know info! It builds trust and credibility quickly.

The premise is to conserve precious energy and resources essential for entrepreneurial success. This proprietary program creates a simple map to follow built on being conscious of one’s behavior.

How can you boost yours? Consider your good name. Consider the message embedded in your name.  What’s it worth to you and your audience? How about a deal sealed with a handshake?

Where has that power gone? My perspective says it has been absorbed by anonymity. As an example, consider Internet dating sites where people upload old or misleading photos and ages. I guess they never intend to actually meet someone.

Credibility is influence's partner. It is the powerful binding ingredient that assists people to know if they would make a good decision to follow you or not. Whether personal or professional (I say there is no difference; business is personal) you are offering a virtual handshake when you contact people. Make it count.
